The tattoo thing is what it is. I am not sure this makes worse. The "worse" part is if Pryor was in fact getting all that cash for signing memorablia.

Here's what I'd like to see happen...

Fire Gene Smith and the entire compliance department.

Bring in a contract person or retired (and respected) AD whose task will be to reassemble a quality compliance staff.

While that's going on, assemble a committee to begin looking at AD candidates.

When the compliance staff is in place, hire a new AD to begin overseeing everything, and then that person can begin putting together the group to take applications for a new football coach.

At the end of the 2011 season, you thank Fickell for his time and let him go. Then you try and find the best coach you can for the program; one who has a clean record with the NCAA and you feel will stay on top of things. It will be the task of the new AD to create a system with the coach and the compliance staff to check on players in the major sports via spot vehicle checks, bank account surveillance (if possible) and other methods.

OSU gets worse than USC at this point and I fear this is just the start of stuff to come out.

Carroll never lied to the NCAA, and this does seem like it is a lot deeper than USC. Who knows.

Absolutely. USC involved one player. OSU will be labeled with a lack of institutional control because it's so widespread.

Plus the NCAA has said they are going to start being tougher on offenders.

I don't discount all the things that are coming out about Pryor, but at what point does a media outlet have to cite a credible source?? First you have a convict as the source in the SI article, no wyou have a former QB(or his brother) that couldn't beat out Pryor for playing time. So you have two guys w/ an opportunity to make money, and nothing to lose as your sources. Pryor leaving OSU is probably for the best, but I hope the kids life isn't ruined by people w/ a grudge or looking to make a quick buck.

Actually, Michigan as a football program bears some of the blame with OSU's troubles. If the football program had been a little more competitive before 2008, and if Rich Rod had been a better recruiter, then TP goes to AA and takes his baggage with him. OSU still wins at least 2 of the past 3 against Michigan . . .

Techinically, didn't OJ Mayo play into the USC "lack of institutional control" thingy, along with Reggie Bush?

The guy I know on the team came the same time as Pryor and has been friends with Pryor since they both arrived and he said he has no idea who Antwan Henton is and has never seen him around or heard of him. Just take that FWIW

Yes, the basketball and football teams were sanctioned, giving the LOIC tag

Yes and it would be even more alarming if other sports were being mentioned in all this mess.

The NCAA will determine who the credible sources are. But it's hard to blame the media for having a guy saying he wants to be anonymous. No one wants to be the rat and have to deal with that. So you either run the story with anonymous sources, or you don't at all.

I just don't believe the HC and star QB leave because of anonymous, un-credible sources in a magazine. There is obviously something to it.

I don't know if it will ever come to LOIC, but what OSU should be worried about just as much is that the NCAA already threw out the term "repeat offender". If the NCAA wants to send a message, whether they bring up institutioal control or not, they've already planted the seed for laying the smack down.

He never admitted to it, but didn't he just run away and give them nothing at all?

I agree there seem to be more people involved here, but I think Bush took a lot more money than anyone at OSU is accused of. At least before today's news came out.

+1000

I really don't understand the lack of critical judgement here. If you are a conservative, you immediately distrust liberal news outlets like HuffPo. or "the mainstream media"...if you are liberal, you distrust Fox news or El Rushbo. But here people are just swilling down this unsubstantiated crap like its water to a parched throat.
Shame on you, shame on you all.

I don't blame Pryor for not coming back. How/why would he? This dog and pony show is all about throwing shit at a wall and trying to make it stick. It's not going to stop until the public tires of the falsehoods and stops sucking it up. Pryor would not be able to go anywhere the media is at, without some asshole reporter shoving a microphone in his face or asking the same tired old questions, or demanding he explain the latest rumor of the day. How does a kid stay a student...or concentrate on getting ready for the next game with all that going on.

Pryor one day will return to OSU and get his degree....but not until some order of saneness returns.
