What do you think of this? On the one hand, he IS Cael. On the other, time (and its effect) is a foe that cannot be defeated.
To quote the Wenworth bastard, "Time is a monster that cannot be reasoned with. It responds like a snail to our impatience, then it races like a gazelle when you can't catch a breath." Great quote from a great movie! (But again, it IS Cael Sanderson!)

So is this part of a bet with his team that if they won the NCAAs he would compete again?

Cael said that his team had joked around with him that if they won the Big 10 championships then he would have to compete in the regional.
He didn't get scored on. Looks like time didn't take THAT much of a toll on him, after coaching for a full season, he went out and dominated his weight class.
