WRONG- not if I have my way, my good man
OHSAA should be completely changed – top to bottom to be more “individual centered”.. “feelings centered”
State Rulebook and State Record Pages should be completely restructured to put less emphasis on being “good” or “better” or “more accomplished” ….for instance-
• Post-match handshaking is demeaning-…Period… loose it! --People who haven’t wrestled have no idea how degrading it is to have to shake an opponent or his coaches hand- plus it shows everyone in the stands that I’m right.
• A new state record category of “headgear toss” should be added. Distance measured, and recognition given.
• A new category should be added for “Escapes”. --Being cut by your opponent several times per period should be a recognized skill-…..long overdue
• Hottest Wrestling Mom is a much overlooked category in our sport. Points should be awarded pre-match, and should ALWAYS be the deciding factor for overtime situations. (Those boys are tired…they just went 6 min…why go another second, when we could do a “Mom-Off”?)
• Best Team Singlet/Warm-up- wrestling has been lacking one thing, for a long, long time…Fashion Sense…end of story
• Remove the “division” and “school” categories completely. What division do you “feel” like? -Its important. And what coach and program “fits” you better? – Also very important. (I’ve always known my son would have easily been a 4-timer had his coach and program just been able to rise to his level of sheer awesomeness)
• MVW, is from now on, MDW (most deserving wrestler) – the parents vote on this, rather than coaches, and several, I MEAN SEVERAL, are given out at each event. And the trophies are FRIG’N HUGE.
• The college “riding time” concept will be adopted in High School, but will be replaced by “struggling time”. ---Being completely controlled, or on your back is exhausting, and it’s about time it becomes a point earner.
• ALL seeding meetings for any High School Events will take into account the youth and middle school records as THE top criteria. We all know it ALWAYS translates directly into future greatness-
• Each match has the “tag team” option that may be exercised. At any point in the match, the wrestlers dad (or in some cases mom) can come down from the bleachers and “tag into” the match. (after all- isn’t my primary role as parent, to prevent discomfort?)
• And last, but not least- every loss will be reviewed on the parent’s camcorder to see if the boy should have won, if only the coach and/or referee would have removed his head from his butt, or listened to the boys dad. This camcorder review WILL be the official result to the match, and more than one winner can be awarded per match.
