I didn't have the heart to tell all varsity starters make it to sectionals, so instead I just said congrats and good job on being a starter.
Apropos
this (sort of...).
My son pointed out to me the other day that the phrase "District Placer" is synonymous with "6th Place at District". I'd never quit put 2 and 2 together before, but he pointed it out the other day.
We were talking to another wrestler and the kid said, "Yeah, I was a District Placer". Afterward my son said told me he got 6th. I asked him how he knew that it and asked if he looked it up on Baums. He said, "No. If he finished 1st he would have said he was a
District Champ. If he had finished 2nd-4th, he would have said he was
State qualifier. If he had finished 5th, he would have said he was a
State alternate. Since he didn't say any of those things, he finished 6th". Low and behold, we looked it up and he was right.
So now we know that SP and DP =
lost the 5th place match.
