Told ya so.

A coach with Harbaugh's clout right now wants no part of the crappy scUM program. I wouldn't be surprised to see scUM drop the football program completely in a couple of years.

Looking at UM's schedule next year, San Diego State visits the Big House in week 4. The question is what sideline will Brady Hoke be on and how bad will it be if he is still at SDSU and beat UM?

A little surprising, but as I thought about it, is Michigan really that much better of a job than Stanford? You are in Palo Alto, can recruit nationwide, have smart kids, no pressure and Stanford has money (although I'm not sure what they pay their coaches).

IMO, Stanford is a GREAT job!

The pressure to win at Stanford, especially after he brought them out of mediocrity, is WAYYY less than at UM. That said, I think he ends up in the NFL where he will have a lot of pressure but a lot of money.

He could make 4 mil a year at UM and maybe 4-8 in the NFL. UM should just step up and empty the coffers.

The pressure to win at Stanford is no where near the pressure to win at Michigan or any other high profile program.

I think that depends on who you are. If I were a football coach, I would prefer to coach at my alma mater for a couple million a year than any nfl team.

Obviously there is pressure to win everywhere, but Harbaugh set the standard at Stanford. They had really no success to speak of prior to him. He could go .500 and no one would hardly notice, so no, there is not the same pressure as Michigan and many other schools in the PAC 10 (Oregon and USC).

This creates an interesting dilemma for Michigan. I think that it's clear that RichRod hasn't come close to doing enough to prove that he can get the job done in Michigan and I think Dave Brandon really wants to fire Rodriguez. I think that he also really wants to hire Jim Harbaugh. Had he fired RR after the regular season is it possible that he could have landed Harbaugh? Yes, but I really don't think that there was ever much of a legitimate chance of that happening. So, Michigan isn't going to get their guy. A lot of people think that Michigan should keep Rodriguez for one more year if they can't get Harbaugh. What I'm wondering is why you would keep him another year. They still aren't going to get Harbaugh next year. And it's not like Hoke, or Miles, or whoever is going to become that much more appealing next year. If they don't think RichRod can get the job done then why keep him to end up in the same spot next year?

Harbaugh is a great coach, but it would have been a pretty difficult situation to walk into. The team is built for the spread offense and has one of the better spread QBs in the country. However, Harbaugh runs a pro-style offense. Maybe Forcier could have pulled it off? Not sure if he would have the stones to bench Robinson though.

Defensively, they are a mess though.

I've heard they do the "holier than thou" approach with regards to paying coaches. They said on PTI that the athletic dept. sets a cap on what they can pay head coaches. In other words, he could get a lot more money elsewhere.

I think it was reported that towards the end of the season, they had like 15-20,000 empty seats for their home games. haha definitely not even close to being on par with Michigan

Michigan is by far a better job. But I'm a little surprised that Harbaugh is so quick to move on. I think he put himself in a great situation. Not saying the next guy can have the same success, but Harbaugh seems to be very comfortable there.

Also, that is a great point about the NFL always being there.

That's not surprising to me. I don't know endowment figures, but I would imagine Stanford has as big of an endowment as any school out there, so they obviously just don't put that emphasis on their athletics.
