May only be a temporary move for him this year, but he will be dynamite as a guard with his athleticism. Brown, similar situation...to have a guy who played QB be able to move up front...even if only for a year or so is good news. That is where the game is played. I could also see Zook get reps at tail back as well. Here again, too good of an athlete to not have on the field as much as possible.

The only part I disagree with RR1 is the "sacrificing for the team" part. Any chance you have to be on the field in a Red Rider uniform as a sophomore is not a sacrifice at all. We have proven athletes in front of these guys...they have every opportunity to beat them out for that position...if they don't at that spot you either stand on the side and watch or learn a position where you can help win. That is the goal here! Win!

Well said 5K...I think RR1 was just using "sacrifice" in terms of kids accepting a role "out of position". But we ALL just want wins!!!

Just as a side note Orrville's record against those wacky leaguers, errrrr wcal is 49-8-3

Rittman 28-5-1
Chippewa 9-0
Dalton 6-2-1
Apple Creek/Waynedale 4-0-1
Norwayne 2-0
Northwestern 0-1

Have never played Smithville or Hillsdale in football, plus you could add more on with the time Triway was a wcal team.

Most of those were long ago, to late at night to look up the years they were. wackl's are talking it up on another thread they don't realize how dominate Orrville was when we were in a league closer to our size the old AOL.

No brag , just facts!

That was my intent...guys taking on another role other than what they're used to, in order to get on the field and help this team win.

I knew that. It is just coming from the "lineman" background that I have it is a little unsettling that somehow people think moving to the offensive line is some sort of a bad thing. If you love football and mixing it up every single moment of every single play.....you know what I mean. Nothing like it as far as I'm concerned......of course I never ran the ball either, lol.

My limited playing days were spent exclusively on the line.

Hearing that plans are in the works to replace the existing scoreboard before week 1 of this coming season.

Anonymous private donor.

Being told it will be the "nicest scoreboard in Wayne Co.," and as much as we dog Wooster for, well, being Wooster....they do have a nice scoreboard, so if we're saying it's going to be better, then it should be pretty nice.

Sam Reusser, 8th in shot put
Stewart Turner, 6th in Long Jump

Both finish "on the podium" and grab all-ohio honors in the process.

Hearing the bleacher wrap project that was tabled due to lack of a donor may have some new life also.

I remember the Northwestern loss. We knew we weren't going to be good that year and NWN was good, but we thought we could beat them anyway and we lost. It was a one year deal with them playing us at home. There was some complaining about that around town after we lost.

8-6 Way back in 1966, even played Tuslaw back in the 60's

Looks like the last WCAL opponent was in 1981 a 29-0 win against Norwayne, ,so those appear to be the most recent games against the WCAL.

10-0 Against Rittman in the 50's and 6-0 in the late 40's, lost to Rittman in 1943, 20-13 , (trivia) the last time WCAL beat Orrville, 68 years!

Last played Dalton 1940, a 65-0 Rider victory. So any history with the Wayne county teams is before most of our lifetimes ( even BRF and Flash :) )

We played Dalton in Jr. high on a regular basis and the games weren't complete runaways, but we used to play Boy's Village also. Now there were some rough kids there, but we usually killed them.

Well it's been a few weeks since I have been on here......Congrats to all the state track placers!

New scoreboard?? That is awesome! (and overdue)

We are also getting new lights and poles and possibly the bleacher covers to make Red Rider Stadium look state of the art!

The new high school will start construction this summer as well, This community is like no other!

(Come on Smuckers.....we need some turf, please :D )

What goes around comes around.....Coach Haley took his lumps from Jack Leeder when he was a newbie....only fair he gets to dish it out in practice as well when he was older. haha. Real happy to see the entire class, especially two current coaches....is that what we mean by TRADITION? Go Riders!

Pretty sure Shane hartzler is a coach too...and I know Loren Burkey at least teaches out at a high school in western Ohio.b Eshenaur is involved in tennis instructing too. A class of educators...on and off the field.

And yes 5knots...this is TRADITION & it most definitely matters.

How many sports does each school have? I know we don't have lacrosse and wooster does, so what does this really mean?
