In a tie game with 3 seconds left. Sask lines up for the game winning 35 yard field goal, Calgary calls timeout the freeze the kicker, Sask comes back out and punts the ball. WTF?!?! The fg kicker had already made a 42 and 22 yard FG. Am I missing a rule in the CFL? Also Ken Yon Rambo had 6 catches for 115 for the Calgary Stampede lol.

Play for the tie at home play for the win on the road?

No idea if you have a chance to win you go for the win.

They play overtime similar to college rules, both teams get the ball. Sask won anyways but still made no sense in what happened in regulation.

Perhaps their FG kicker had a bad hammy.

They were going for the rouge. If a FG attempt hits the upright, it's a deadball (i.e., not good), but if you kick/punt the ball into the endzone and it is not returned out of the endzone, you get a point for forcing a touchback. Apparantly they failed at it according to the game recap on cfl.ca.

A rouge is a very high percentage play. I remember a few years ago Toronto had the ball driving late with a tie game and the kicker purposefully kicked the ball way wide of the upright to avoid an accidental dead ball, forgoing the FG, and instead won the game by a point with the rouge.

Not sure why they switched from using the placekicker to the punter, maybe because with the distance the punter would get more hangtime and better chance of pinning them inside the endzone.

Either way, sounds like a regular down-to-the-wire CFL game to me.

Always like to see former Buckeyes do well no matter of the league.
