Will Kamala channel her inner Maya Angelou at the convention?

What do you OC'rs think?

I’m rooting for the protesters at the convention. All the violence

Well, if Kamala doesn't want violence, she would hopefully understand that she can't pull her "I'm speaking!" type of scolding.

So far, at least last night, things were pretty calm. I know the start off wasn't official yet so we will have to wait and see how the week goes. But the madness of crowds do tend to occur.

If things do get violent at least the Dems won't hold them accountable.

I don't know, I think Trump's statements and conduct the last month has been questionable and dare I say, he looks, "old".

Is anyone watching his speeches anymore? They are a mess and even worse than before.

Oh the irony here after we all had to be doctors to say things like this about Biden….”moderate”

The funniest part about this, that I heard driving home today, is that the Dem's assumed Biden would be the candidate and there are apparently 19 items on their agenda referencing him. They were too lazy to edit it.

What's more funny is old Weekend at Bernie's is supposed to give a "passing of the torch" speech endorsing Harris. Would be awesome if he pulled a heel turn and ripped the party a new asshole on stage for forcing him out.

It was two months ago, clown. Now asking if Trump is too old while Biden was mentally handicapped is hilarious.  I fucking hate Trump, wish it wasn’t him, but would never vote for communism. The rest of y’all are losers.

“Let it go” is for jmog going on about P-Town and the doctor assertion.  Jmog made his point 136 times last month.  I was encouraging him to leave the issue behind - not Biden dropping out - but making his point that P-town was wrong to say only a doctor could diagnose Biden with dementia.  Jmog didn’t agree with that and made it ABUNDANTLY clear.

Yeah, I've said before that there isn't anything inherently wrong with right/left populism. Do I think Trump is the best person to sell it for the right - I have major doubts.

The problem is that we will not see any productive populism unless or until we have a capable Congress that is willing to make the hard choices and have that fight. What we currently have is a Congress that is almost completely controlled by big donors, big pharma and the establishment alphabet entities - and have ceded their responsibilities to those groups.

It's why I don't like Presidents tossing out EO's like confetti. EO's are only supposed to be used during extreme or specific circumstances.

Kamala's iconic plan namely her homeowner proposal.

Every far left person I know of is vehemently against it and they make a convincing case why. It's targeted for the middle class, only. It does nothing for the working class except to set them up for foreclosure, where companies like Black Rock will happily buy those up.

So far the far left isn't happy with, well, anything she's proposing. And neither is the right, naturally. Maybe she'll come up with something else that will gain their approval.

Kamala will come out with stuff people like or she won’t. I hold that ultimately most  people don’t really care about these campaign positions (except the hard core bases).  I think most people ultimately vote for president based upon their instinct or gut feel as to who is the better person to face certain, and not-yet-known challenges that will come during the term.  Most campaign points never make it further than the cutting room floor once the election passes.  How someone feels about tips for waiters or student loan applications or obtaining drilling rights are things to talk about now.  But in reality, I think most people will vote for the person they “feel” the best about - however that is defined at the individual’s level.

You can make compelling points about why neither of these two have this quality.  But each of us who votes will ultimately find one of them has more pros than cons.  Most, probably will not be swayed by platforms because most people innately know that stuff is irrelevant and unlikely to be realized anyway.

Listening to Raskin at the convention. He's still going on about fascism and all that other nonsense.

Does anybody still believe any of that?

Trump spent the weekend calling Harris a communist and Marxist.

This is the level we are on.

Did anybody watch Biden's speech last night? It was a little hard to watch. All I could think was that, everybody has done him dirty. From his "friends" in govt to his own damn family. Absolutely despicable, the whole lot.

Putting aside his politics, if you can, somebody like that could be given at least a little bit of kindness. At least. But all of them are only kind and empathetic when the mic/camera is on. I wouldn't have blamed him if he looked them all in the eye and told them to go to Hell. But that's where they will end up, anyway.

In this election, like most, it is an either or.....

Pick a side.

99% of people will choose freedom, economic freedom, and capitalism, over socialism, Marxism and communism, if properly informed.

Venezuela was destroyed in one generation.  Many of our cities are already heading down the path.

Picking a side is easy.

Properly informed? Satanism over  Christianity. More people have died in the name of Jesus than all of the wars put together.  It’s not even close.

I didn't see him mention anything about Satanism, Christianity or religion in general.

To reply to his last comment, picking a side isn't "easy" when many of the gullible are not properly informed.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about the abortion issue but the Dem's will paint it that everyone is getting raped or could potentially have a birth defect with their child so the "big bad Republicans" still want them to go through with the pregnancy where the truth is probably that those instances are outliers and 99% of these abortions are chicks sleeping with 7-8 dudes in a year, one guy slips one past the goalie, and she doesn't want the "inconvenience" of a child. For the latter, I have no empathy, using abortion as birth control.

Considering they came into office during the pandemic, the numbers are skewed.

As I said, given the pandemic and continued supply chain issues, I think it is debatable how much of the economy is a result of Biden.

The President does not control the supply chain or even have influence in interest rates.

Just like how I don't blame Trump for the economy in 2020.

I don’t think this is anything close to being accurate.  I understand your objection to abortion - that’s your right.  But this generalization is not true in the way you’re implying.

That they talked about Trump a lot and probably other non economic issues?

Trump is the opponent and unpopular. Easy to point to him and say they are going to do the opposite.
