Your bookie doesn’t charge you? I used offshore, but the offerings weren’t great, and the threat of shutting down was always prevalent. Used a bookie for a month, but he took a cut of every bet placed. Gave that up quickly.

No, he doesn’t charge me. Can set you up with my guy if you’re interested. Uses Venmo for payment, it’s real nice. Settles every Tuesday if you’re up/down a chosen amount.

I’m good now that mobile is legal in IL. But thanks anyway.

What site are you using for your sports betting now? Just like the rivers casino sportsbook app or something? I haven’t looked into this at all

Yeah, the Bet Rivers. I can’t find the app for iPhone (they say it’s released but I think it’s just android). But the Mobile site is pretty user friendly.

Hoping DK/Fanduel find that loophole soon. Don’t like that Rivers doesn’t offer cash-outs before the bet is settled. Would’ve been able to “win” a few others that finished a spot away from cashing my bet last week.

Sieffert coming through with the T4 FRL! Winner, winner...chicken parm dinner!

Should be playing the rest of the weekend already at even money.

FRL = First Round Leader

EW = Each Way

An each way bet is a bet that you make on someone to win/be in first/whatever, then double that bet if you choose the each way. It then pays out not only if they win, but also if they finish 2-6 (in my bets above). The each way pays out at 1/5 the price the outright win would pay out.

So, for Seiffert finishing 4th after the first round, I lost the outright bet, but cashed the E/W. Meaning my $10 bet ($5 on outright and $5 on E/W) paid out at $5 x 150 (odds were 150-1) divided by 5, or $150. If he had finished in actual 1st, I’d have caused both the outright ($750) and the $150 E/W for a total of $900.

Also threw a Win bet with T-5 E/W today on Duncan (90-1). And on Day to beat Todd head to head in round 2. Todd gained almost 4 strokes putting! Typically the most volatile part of golf, round to round. Day was better in ever other category, so if the putting levels out, good chance Day beats him.

I got into a few sportsbook apps this fall and am up $2000 since the start of the NFL season. I rarely bet on anything besides gimmicks or contests that have been adjusted in my favor, and never larger than $50 on a single bet. Took advantage of a few deposit matches and bet safely enough to stay even long enough to pull the matched dollars. Pretty fun and easy if you stick to calculated risk.

I have Draft Kings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and William Hill; between the four, one always has better odds than the rest. There are also opportunities to vastly increase your winning likelihood by putting app gimmicks up against each other.

Is anyone else using sportsbook apps where it's legal?

Maybe a dumb question, but I've never used these so I don't know - Is it legal to do this in all states or do you have to live in a state with legalized sports betting?

I live about 20 minutes from Hollywood Casino in Charlestown WV. I've used the app a little and it is fine. I just cannot stand the casino as they still allow smoking and I smell like a bar whenever I go there.

I normally go off shore to bet.

I haven't bet jack shit most of this year just due to so many unknowns.  In a normal year, I would have bet a little more. I haven't really bet any college this year and just a few NFL games. I think I am down overall.

Normally, you have to be located in the state to bet via the app. So, for me in Maryland, I just drive a few miles to the WV line and make a few bets via the app or head to the casino and make a few bets.

I know you do not have to live in the state because they want the people to travel out of state to bet via the apps in the state.

Where I live now, Maryland just passed a sports betting measure that will probably go into effect late next year. Now, that I am moving back to Ohio, I hope the state can pass something soon to legalize it in state.

I have BetRivers, DK, and FD. I currently have $1200 combined and $100 left of my deposits (withdrawals totaling $500 of the $600 invested). So up $1100.

I destroyed the nba bubble. Down with NFL, so I’ve taken a bit of a break. Hoping I can crush NBA again. Easiest money was on the books underrating LeBron in the playoffs once again. Year in year out it’s a blind bet cash cow for me. Glad I finally got to do it legally in IL this past year.

What’s the one where you pick the best guys at each position within a salary range? Draft Kings? I hated using that.

I’d rather just bet on head to head matchups. Can you do that legally in Ohio?

I’ve never played those daily fantasy games.

My favorite bet gimmick right now is a combination of DK, FD, and MGM, all on 1st TD scorer.

Every NFL day, DK has a gimmick that lets you bet on first TD scorer with a free bet refund (max $20) if your player scores a TD later in the game (not first).

MGM also has a free bet refund that gives your money back (Max $20) regardless of whether your player scores later in the game.

FD has a refund up to $25 on a parlay if 2 out of 3 legs hit.

So- I’ll bet $20 in DK on the better team’s RB, $20 in MGM on the other team’s best TD scorer, and $25 in FD on a parlay with a 3rd player as the TD scorer and two other guaranteed wins (e.g. Chiefs +20, over 14 total pts).

I’ve hit 14 times this season for $140-300 each, minus up to $20 if the player I bet on DK never scores.

Once legal gambling came to IL, I stopped most of the DFS stuff. However, I still prefer that to regular fantasy leagues.

And no, Ohio hasn’t legalized sports betting yet. Indiana and Pennsylvania have though as border states. Maybe Michigan? I think every state will have it legalized within the next 2 years. Then it’s how quickly they actually implement it. Took Illinois over a damn year from legalizing it to the first bet being placed.
