So WVU shoots about same number of 3’s as Kansas but 33 less free throws? Huggins got tossed but a little surprised he didn’t die

Solid win for Carolina on the road at Louisville.  5 straight wins after sitting at 16-7.  Still a tough finish at Cuse, home against Miami, and at Duke though.

Definitely a good win. After losing 3 in a row, I really thought this team was destined for the NIT. 4 wins later and it’s hard to argue they aren’t a deep run kind of team. Definitely can’t have a let down the next 2 games. Both SHOULD be wins. And then, of course, at CIS is a crapshoot.

Louisville’s championship is no more, as their appeal of NCAA infractions was denied.

This is just a reminder that in the eyes of the NCAA, UNC’s decades of academic fraud is okay. But don’t you dare hire strippers to lure recruits!

The NCAA only cares if you use something to entice recruits.  The blow off classes could be taken by anyone.

No. It means there isn’t a national champion for 2013.

The UNC thing is tough. The University basically saying those classes are open to anyone made it impossible for the NCAA to do kuch about it.

If the article I read early is correct, Louisville will have to pay back $15-20 million of conference tournament earnings. Couple that with $30 million state cuts that Bevin just signed and a lot of people will be losing their jobs at UL. Bet they won’t be the the athletic department.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek, but thanks for the clarification.

Wow, what a mess.

Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina. Damn this is going to get ugly.

They will need a lot more than this to do any real damage, hate to say it. But agents paying players...?? That won’t even be more than a scholarship or 2. Unless they have the coaches directly tied to this stuff, or someone at the school. On the books, etc they have nothing. Just players being paid by agents. No proof the school was ordering it (they were) or that the coaches and schools even knew (they did).

Yeah Izzo was having dinner with the agents.  MSU is royally screwed.

This is one of those things that everyone knew was happening but never thought it’d actually get investigated. The NCAA isn’t going to ban all their top schools from participating in tournaments, so my guess is what laley  said: they don’t have enough to tie the schools and coaches directly to this, and they just fine the shit out of them (more money for the NCAA).

I remember the line from James Earl Jones in the Hunt for the Red October, "Now, understand, commander, that torpedo did not self-destruct. You heard it hit the hull. And I... [shows him his CIA identification] ...was never here."

"Now understand public, that Louisville Cardinal team did not win the national championship.  You saw Michigan beat a mid-level West Coast team to take the title and recall Louisville not even qualifying for the tournament that year.  And Rick Pitino...(shows them an NCAA business card)...was never a college basketball coach." - NCAA

Some of the stuff in the Yahoo story could be bad, some of it also seems pretty minor.

However, THIS does not seem minor.
