Who do you have in mind?

There are a few guys on the roster I'd re-sign. May not be popular on here but I'd retain Perriman & Greg Robinson if they can get them for cheap. Would also keep Higgins. Boddy-Calhoun is the only other player of note. On the fence about him. Would also extend Schobert and maybe Ogbah. The rest are JAG's.

Barring what happens against Denver's pass rush, I think that Greg Robinson can do an adequate job at LT. Is he the best? No, but Baker's making this O-Line look elite. Heard a stat this morning that since week 9, BM's only had FOUR QB hits. Mahomes has been hit over 30x's. Has something to say about Mayfield's pocket awareness, imo.

As far as outside FA's, can't really speculate on that until we know who's going to hit the market. I will say that if Dorsey's going to get a #1 WR, it's going to have to be via trade ala Jarvis Landry. This year's draft crop for WR's is weak as hell. Question is, will there be a WR available for trade?

I fully expect OBJ to be in a browns uniform next year. It’s akready been reported that Dorsey has had talks with the giants about him and I really think the giants deal him this offseason and go in a full rebuild trying to acquire picks. It might take 2 1sts or a 1st and second but I think it’s well worth it

That's kind of the direction I was thinking as far as WR's go but didn't name his name specifically. If the NYG's end up drafting a rookie QB, I'd be surprised if they part with him.

This was what I was talking about with the QB hits since week 9...

Don't they pretty much have to?

Good luck with that. Hearing Herbert may not even come out which leaves who? Haskins & Grier as potential 1st round QB's? (may be missing someone) Not exactly QB's I'd have huge faith in burning a 1st rounder on.

That is very bullish of you and I have a hard time buying for several reasons:

1. Let's be real, none of us really know wtf Dorsey is going to do.  Just take a look at our off season discussion leading up to the draft.  We had a very poor batting average with our predictions.

2. Dorsey is on record stating it takes 3 years to turn a franchise around.  Trying to take a shortcut by bypassing the draft doesn't fit his style.

3. As nice as it is to be able to get excited about the Browns future, they are not a a mega trade for a star WR away from being SB contenders.

4. Several other teams will be interested in OBJ if he is on the block.

I also don't believe WR is a top need for the team.  OBJ doesn't put them on top.  I'd prefer Dorsey to stay the course and keep drafting.  We finally have a GM that has a track record of drafting well, so let's keep getting young talent.

Herbert, Hasking.....Lock. Grier may not go in top 2. If Herbert doesn't come out then yea, Haskins is pretty much it and if they are at 10 and Jacksonville gets one. So yea, they may be screwed for another year.

Saw some predictions for landing spots of players with Eli going to Jacksonville, Flacco to Miami and Bridgewater to the NYG's.

Evan Silva posed the question on Twitter....

You run an NFL team. Who would you rather have, going forward? You can bring nothing from the past with you. All about best bet for the future.

Choices:

Carson Wentz

Baker Mayfield

Deshaun Watson

Jared Goff

Mayfield was winning with over 53k votes cast and Goff was last.

I do tend to agree with this, for several reasons. I think Goff is very good but also think he's a product of McVay's systems. Also think Watson & Wentz are pretty good but question their long-term viability due to the way they play (susceptible to injuries). Love me some Baker but if Mahomes was on this list, I'd take him over them all right now. I also think that Mayfield's mental makeup is perfect for this franchise and the other three mentioned wouldn't perform here like he does.

EDIT: Just noticed the "you can bring nothing from the past with you" so I can't assume Goff is a system QB without already knowing how he's performed in LA. I can make the comments about Watson & Wentz though because I saw how they played in college and knew they opened themselves up to injury. Can also make the comment about Mayfield because that was part of what I loved about him coming out of college "chip on the shoulder/refuse to fail mentality."

Yea, I saw a ton of Philly fans screaming at Browns fans for saying Baker > Wentz.  I picked Baker in that poll on twitter, but I'm really just glad we have a QB who is good enough to be argued with the best young qbs. I wouldn't cry over having Wentz right now, but he is starting to have a problem saying healthy.

This is my biggest concern and I was a Wentz guy in that draft. Baker's mental makeup is what put it over the top for me. I think part of the reason Dorsey targeted him was for that reason. I think Dorsey may have felt that someone like Baker, who has overcome numerous challenges, could overcome the (usually) dysfunctional atmosphere here. I don't think those other three could, especially Goff.

I would pick Wentz if not for the injury concerns. I legit thought Wentz was the best QB in the NFL pre-injury. After that, he’s looked okay but not great.

Give me baker in that poll.

I am giving Wentz a pass this year.  That's not an easy injury to come back from.  If there are issues next year, then Eagles fans should be legitimately concerned.

I'd pick Goff in that poll currently.  I like to give QBs 3 years, before I think they have solidified themselves.  I am happy with Baker so far, but still cautiously optimistic.  We have to see what he does in his sophomore season.

I'm just happy we aren't in a position where we are talking about who we will be drafting in April....

Goff is still terrible if McVay doesn’t have has receivers getting open right away. He isn’t gonna just stand in the pocket and be able to deliver strikes versus good defenses and pick apart stuff at the LOS etc. He’s plenty good to win a SB, because of his team, but he would be what he was with Jeff Fisher without McVay saving him. I stand by that, 100%.

Wentz is really good. He was great last year and solid rookie season. Coming off his injury he hasn’t looked right moving and throwing all year. Tough to judge. He has a personality that would work in Cleveland also, so it’s a toss up with him and Baker for me. I guess since he is hurt I’ll go Baker cause you never know about recovery.

Watson is fine. Above average QB but too many really dud games. Can’t scramble like you’d expect him to and doesn’t even get 300 yards regularly...in 2018, that’s a problem 4x all season). 22/9 TD to INT ratio, with 5 of those in one game (only game with more than 2). Don’t know, he seems to be what I expected in college.
