Summer is approaching.

How many hours does everyone get for vacation per year?

Do you have any "use or lose" hours?

How many total accrued?

Going anywhere cool?

1. 19 days/year.

2.  10 "use or lose" days for this year. I want to build into years with at least 120 "use or lose" hours.

3.  22 total days accrued.

4.   Dont think I am going anywhere cool.   Do have a month work trip to Louisiana that takes a full month away from home so my  days will be used likely locally.

I get 5 weeks, plus 2 floating holidays. I can carry over 5 days each year.

Going to Panama City Beach in April. Minnesota in August. Likely going to the Orlando area for an event in October.

5 weeks, but 1 is mandatory the week between Christmas and New Years. Of course, in my profession, I work basically all those days. So I get them whenever I want.

Wife and I both have unlimited PTO which  is basically a con to not pay you if you quit for accrued vacation days.

As for traveling, it will depend on the job situation. My wife’s got a few companies recruiting her across the country. She’s ready for a change so it will probably be a move to Salt Lake City, Vegas, or Dallas in the next few months. Her parents just bought a vacation home on Lake Cumberland so we could like to spend at least a week down there before we move. If we stay put we will probably do some extended weekends there and a trip to Vegas.

My company's vaca system sucks. You start at zero and accrue each month....I think 1.2 days/month.

The key is to not use much in year one, then you're banking for the future. My current balance is around 16 days. We get a lot of holidays and summer Fridays so I don't bitch that much.

Going to Isla Mujeres end of June.

That is how mine is, it goes by pay period. I get 6 hours of vaca each pay period.

Good thing is I get all the extra federal holidays off like Columbus, Presidents, Veterans, etc.  Each month they pick a Friday to have off as well, usually in conjunction with another holiday on a Monday so there is at least one 3 day, often times 4 day, weekend each month

Get 3 weeks vacation and a few "special" days (and 2 weeks sick). You can roll some, but it really only builds a balance up to be used for an emergency situation or paid out in retirement. So I have no reason to not try and use it all.

No vacations planned. Thought about Disney with a cousin's employee discount but it's still way too much for my kids being so young. I still have 9 days to waste by the end of June so I need to plan something. With my kids being 3 and 17 months it's hard to travel somewhere that doesn't have at least 2 bedrooms, and your stuck back in the room by 8pm unless a grand parent is present.

I have similar regarding fed holidays. We also get the Friday off before Pres Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day...which is nice.

IMHO: I would wait until the youngest is at least 4 before Disney, plus you don't want to look back 30 years from now to see pics with the kids and Goofy all wearing the masks

Yea, I agree. If it was cheap enough with discounts we were just going to go to do it, knowing they were too young. But I'm not dropping "real" money on it at this point.

21 vacation days. Use or get paid out at the end of the vacation "year" which is June 1 to May 31.  Can be used in half day increments.

3 paid personal days, Use or get paid out at end of calendar year. Can be used in half day increments.

11 to 13 paid holidays depending on how the calendar falls. Most of this is Christmas Eve thru New Years Day.

No sick days.

More often than not I just extend weekends rather than taking a week and going somewhere. I use a combination of the above to take 2 to 3 weeks off at the end of the year.

Same. I generally take them for long weekends instead of a full week.    Usually the only time I take a full week is when we head to Lake James in Indiana. last year was canned due to them not renting due to the Rona, and this year i will be out of the state for a month and that conflicts which sorta sucks!

I have been using more comp time than anything recently as that seems to run out quicker and cannot be rolled over.

My sick hours are out of control.   Think I get like 4 hours per pay period and they add up very quickly.  Makes it easy to actually take care of my self and go to the Dr and such.

I get three weeks vacation a year. However, I am the HR Director for the company, so I'm the one that tracks vacation...

The value of vacation time I think can be priceless. I see people every year not taking their's, and forfeiting it or just getting paid.

I wise friend of mine once said "when you are on your death bed, no one every says 'I wish I worked more'.

So I make sure I am taking mine, even if I would get it paid out.

When I worked for UPS 'back in the day' even as a part timer we started with 2 weeks vacation.

One was an 'option week' where you could work it, and still get paid that vacation time so it was double pay for a week.

I did that once. $$ was good, but not having that time off sucks and I would never do it again.

I guess if ya get an enormous amount of vacation time one could 'justify' taking the pay and not time off, and some financially need to do so, but man I am not about to give up my vacation time just to earn some extra jangle.

What say you?
