I'm currently sitting at a 16.4 but trending 16.9. Played Ravines today in Michigan and shot a 94. I was hoping to improve on my 45 on the front but shot a 49 on the back.
posted by Laley23Great thing about the sport is it’s all relative. If you know what you typically shoot, all you need to do is beat that score to have a great time and round.
And to further that, getting the handicap strokes if you are playing competitively (either tournament or with friends) makes it so every hole is even.
It was irritating though as I was in my 30’s and playing everyday and had better clubs ...but couldn’t get back to how I was before I stopped playing regularly about age 25. I was Championship Flight at age 16 but doubtful I could ever get back there....I would’ve been close back in my mid 30’s.
And my scoring was boring AF even though it was good back in my 30’s. I’d literally play 9 holes Mon-Thurs and shoot 38 or 39 every time....if I played 18 I was 78-81 like clockwork. I went out 3 summers ago and first time out shot a 41, my next 4 times were all 39’s.....went out next time and shot an even 36 and didn’t go back out for the rest of the summer.
My game is old man and literally 3 clubs more now for same distance I had back when i was younger. I have a 7 wood FFS lol.
at some point down the road I’ll get clack to playing everyday (health permitting) but it just hasn’t been very enjoyable for a long time (rare round excluded).../I started playing every Sunday evening at age 6....peaked too damn early
Hey Justin, did you end up playing Beeches in South Haven? thoughts? also, did you and your bride make it to the Blueberry Store? yum!

Didn't play Beeches this trip, but we'll probably come back. We did check out the blueberry store. Didn't buy anything but we'll probably stop back in before leaving tomorrow.
Pulled the trigger in the Callaway Rouge X Irons. 5-9, PW. Then bought an individual 4 Iron as it came out to be cheaper that way. I’ve always had a 3 Iron, but those don’t come in sets anymore so I guess I’ll roll for awhile without one. But it was always my preferred club from 230 over a 5-wood.

Ever hit a 1 iron? I used to carry one. Interesting club when you pull it out of the bag lol

I have not. Seems like it would be a driving iron for me, which I’ve never been too inclined to switch too.

It was a strange looking club. A couple holes on my course had a pond about 255 off the tee and impossible carry over with a driver. My 3 wood worked but sometimes rolled it into even when swinging it easier. The 1 iron was perfect for those two holes. I like certain lies with certain clubs...1 iron gave me options from 230-245. I didn’t carry a 5 wood then. Yeah, could’ve definitely managed without it but it was a fun club.
Local course up in North Central Ohio got 4 of these and they look pretty cool. I guess they have 4 more on order.
Great course too. Eagle Creek in Norwalk. Highly recommend.

These things look awesome. Would almost be worth a drive just to try them out.

If you do, make sure to call and reserve the scooters as they are a hot item. It's probably the nicest course in the area and worth a weekend getaway.
Just ordered a 50/54/58 set of these wedges.
Shot a 43 (+8) tonight. No penalties, but did have two really bad tee shots that ended up okay. Only missed 1 fairway. I did follow up my best ever tee shot on the 8th with a string of shit for a triple bogey, but followed it up with a birdie on 9. Drove to the far edge of the fairway with my 3 wood (about 260) and chipped over a bunker to about 6 inches. That was my first birdie since April. 😑

260 with a wood is impressive considering your relatively introductory status to the game.
even though my status isn’t exactly introductory, I played this morning for the first time in two years—shot 45/44 at Heatherdowns—I was pretty damn happy with that

Anything under 90 is always good. Heatherdowns is a fun course. That’s the one right across from South Toledo (not quite as fun of a course lol) right?

First birdie since April? Hell man. Great patience!
Was that a sub 300 Par 4?

Yeah, I've missed a ton of birdie putts and it's been killing me.
The hole was 296ish from the member tees.

Yeah, I smoked it. I usually hit it about 230 yards.
