We just missed the cutoff for $210/mo due to our age, our dues are $310 with a $40 food/beverage minimum. They just ran a promo to allow all current members to refer one member for no initiation fee so my brother-in-law referred us. The initiation fee ($3k) was my only hangup in joining so I jumped at the opportunity.

congrats and enjoy, but the thought of playing the same course over, and over, and over again just doesn't appeal to me...but again, different strokes, I guess (pun intended)

I can understand that. But it's a nice course, close to our house, and given how booked up courses around here get having easy access is a pretty big bonus.

What course did you join if you don't mind me asking?

I’ve been wanting to join a course for awhile now. I can’t afford country club status, but the New Era group has a nice package in the Columbus area. I just haven’t pulled the trigger on it. I might next year though.

6 courses (Golf Club of Dublin, Royal American, Bent Tree, Glenross, New Albany Links, Clover Valkey), unlimited play 7 days for $2600+tax. Or a little cheaper to drop GCD. Pretty much most of the courses I play all the time as it is.

That seems like a pretty decent deal, especially if it's not too hard to get a tee time after work or on the weekends.

Father in law is a member at Medinah, and it’s amazing to wake up and just go play if you feel like it. No tee times needed, never a wait. It’s wonderful. They have 3 courses, so you can mix it up a bit, but I would sacrifice the waits and bookings and overall time constraints of a local course for a CC any day.

I travel enough (northern Michigan or elsewhere) where I get my full of diversity anyway. Or when someone else calls up for a random round.

I have no earthly idea what he pays, but for a CC not quite of that stature, I’d jump at it for a couple hundred a month if you can afford it.

That place looks awesome.

Ivy Hills. Just got back from walking 8 holes. My wife wanted to try out the fitness center so we rode over together and I got through 7 holes before she called me to let me know she was done. Parred 8 pretty quickly, but after hitting two shots OB off the tee on 9 I just walked to the car.

It’s amazing. Course 3 really is special. They have done some renovations over the last year plus, but almost done and the new stuff is awesome. Added a smaller “appetizer bar” with a patio as well. Overlooks 18 of Course 1 and tee boxes of 2 and 3. It’s just a great club...but damn expensive I’m sure.

This would definitely be on the 'plus' side when making a decision on whether or not to join a CC...my FIL was a member at Inverness for many years, and he had reciprocity benefits at Sylvania CC and Toledo CC--he said many times that this was one of the main reasons he kept up his membership. He loved being able to rotate among these three beautiful (and challenging) courses.

Nice. Golf Club of Dublin is my evening post work spot, like two miles from my place

Classy, the Golf Club of Dublin has a "Range" membership that includes all the balls you can hit on the range and then you only pay for the cart for golf after 1:00 PM on weekdays and 4:00 PM on weekends and holidays.  With Able's closing that's not a bad range deal.  It's $45/month and an additional $24 for a second person.

Lol honestly I rarely pay for balls there. May have to look into that but people leave tons all the time in those massive buckets. Love using the putting green as they have such nice quick greens too

I like that you can play 18 holes for just the $20 cart fee.

Had my best score on the front 9 at my club last night. Didn't start the best, going +5 after 3 (bogey, bogey, triple), but shot +3 over the last 6 holes, ending the round with 3 straight pars.

I'm really loving these new irons. I shouldn't be able to hit them as well as I am, but I have a ton of confidence with them in my hands now. Now, if I could just figure out my driver.

I played blades for 20 years just got my first set of cavity backs/hybrids last year.  it was a difficult transition but my mishits are far less penalizing now.  my distances seem to be much shorter though.

Played 36 yesterday before the storms rolled through. Morning round at Links at Echo Springs. Played great. Afternoon round out at Virtues. Played even better. Great way to spend Memorial Day, now it’s on to the Memorial for the week. I’ll be volunteering tomorrow and spending the rest of the week drinking expensive beers and sweating my ass off on the course. One of the best weeks of the year.

My grandfather knew Nicklaus pretty well from the golf course and my grandpa never had too kind of words about Jack.....my grandpa however was for the most part an ass and not a good person. The older Nicklaus gets the more likable he becomes.

Sorry grandpa.....Nicklaus is a national treasure
