I put the O/U on Tribe being no hit at 11 to start the year. I can’t believe I was short-selling them!

And NOW we have mailed it in and Miley can proceed with his no-hitter.

What is the MLB record for taking a  second no-hitter in 2 weeks?

So, weird anecdote that I feel the need to share, and Im sure I92 will appreciate the randomness.

But maybe a few weeks ago -- early in the season -- I had posted about Jose absolutely smoking the ball. To the tune of something like 17 balls hit over 95 MPH, which as an average has an average of over .700 and OPS over 1.000. Jose was somehow 4/17 on those swings or something absurd and his average was at or below .200 with only a few HRs. I said I was pumped because if he kept it up, he would obviously go on a tear, which he has. Mentioned it had a feel to his 2018 campaign when I had posted something similar, but I couldn't find the post.

Fast forward to right now and I picked a random thread in 2018 to see who posted the sparkling Wahoo (it must've stopped before that, cause no such post in that thread). It was the Baltimore thread. I stumbled across this post of mine:

Anyone see the Let’s Go Tribe article about Jose Ramirez a few weeks back (when he was 2/30 to open season or whatever)?? It was saying he was actually hitting the ball BETTER than last year, and if the numbers kept up, he would end the year as a top MVP candidate. Starting to believe it! Lol

Here is what Jose ended 2018 at...

Good show

It's been over 100 years, I believe, to have that done and to have it done by a pitcher as bad as Miley is pretty pathetic.

Congrats to Miley on the no-no. Now the real question. Can he be a Johnny Vander Meer and pitch two no-no's in a row?

I’m not even impressed if you throw one against us.

About the 6th inning I started hoping for it. Tito needs to answer to the lineups he’s putting out. Bradley and Zimmer instantly make this team better, and they don’t even have to hit. But they rot away while Chang and Bauers combined to be the worst 1B in the league with ZERO hrs from a power position. Meanwhile we not only have the worst offensive outfield in the league, but probably worst defensive also. Zimmer solves one of those instantly with GG defense.

And I’m not even counting the fact one of Rosario and Gimenez play each day with Nolan Jones in AAA, because that move would actually force lots of positional movement. But yeah, when you’re no hit for the 2nd time in a month, you better have a great answer as to why Zimmer/Bradley/Jones aren’t on your squad.

The Indians are the 3rd team in MLB history to get no-hit twice before June (1917 White Sox, 1884 Alleghenys). (per ESPN )

I would actually bet we get no-hit again vs not. Way too many easy outs in that lineup nightly.

They HAVE to bring some guys up. Some of this roster is useless

If you go solely off WAR, things get really shaky offensively for you after Jose (1.4) and Franmil (.9), with only a few other players even better than .1 at this stage of the year. Pitching has 5-6 guys at .5 or better, but position players are pretty sad.

I guess what goes around comes around. In 1973 defending WS Champ A's get no-hit  by The Tribe's Dick F-ing Bosman and now in 2021 Tribe gets no-hit by Wade F-ing Miley and I'm not comparing this Tribe lineup to the A's but I am saying that Dick Bosman and Wade Miley were both sucky pitchers.

END OF RANT

Nice bases loaded triple by Hernandez.

6-1 in the 5th.

Nice bounce back win, but Heretic is right. At this point in the season, to only have 2 offensive weapons is really dangerous. Though, I do think Naylor, Hernandez and Rosario will end up above average.

However, the rest? Eeeek. Luplow does not hit, but the power is pretty hard to keep out of the lineup. Tito has done a pretty good job of it though lol.

The fact we have 3 legit starters. Arguably the best reliever in Karinchak, plus the rest of the bullpen (Clase, Shaw, Quantril, the new sidearm dude) will mean this team isn’t going to tailspin imo, but the offensive production has to get better. It’s frankly an insult to the fans to trot that out to start the year and then be shocked they suck and get no-hit twice when we all basically called it.
