just returned from anna marie island and had a great time...I would go there again.
Flew into Akron/ Canton yesterday on new airline Breeze. Seemed to be a step up above the other cheap airlines like allegiant and spirit. No one in the airport or on the plane said a word about my 3.5 year old not wearing a mask. All in all better than I expected. CAK was dead around noon.

You’re in my neck of the woods. What are you doing up here?

FIL lives in Brimfield. And visiting rest of family and friends back in Champion/ Warren area.
Think I’m going to paddle one of the Ohio DNR water trails since my MN trip fell through. Anyone got a decent kayak I can borrow?
There is a Dresden to Marietta trip down the Muskingum River that I’m considering, but it’s pretty long at 112 miles.
posted by AutomatikJust booked a 7 week colive setup in Mexico starting the end of August. Sayulita, Playa Del Carmen, then Isla Mujeres.
If I love it, I'll come back for the winter, then go back early spring and settle on an apartment somewhere. Rent is very cheap there so I figure I should take advantage while I can.
Sayulita is beautiful but last I heard it wasn’t very safe anymore, has that changed?

It sucks about the wildfires how close is it to Eli and the boundary waters area. Nothing like a perfect camping spot watching the northern lights there.
We’re traveling from Texas to Lake Cumberland again for the second time this month. I’m really falling in love with the area and lake. I told my wife today that if she switches to a remote position she was offered and I can find a remote job we should rent our home in Dallas out for the summer next year and just stay at the Lake.
posted by friendfromlowryGoing to St. Louis next month for several days. Suppose to be good place to take kids. I’ve never been. Definitely want to go up in the Arch and visit Mark Twain national forest. We’re kind of stuck in no man’s land with the ages of our kids (3 and 7.)
Too late now but there is a great children’s museum in St Louis that when my 3 boys were 8, 5, and 2 we took them to and they had a blast
posted by justincredibleI think my wife and I are going to Hocking Hills for a long weekend in August. Anyone been before?
Hocking Hills is amazing, can’t go wrong with any of the trails.

CAK was getting slower and slower before COVID, it has been a ghost town since COVID.
I still fly in and out of there for work and get a rental car at least once or twice a month for work trips. You could shoot an RPG down the ticket area and hit no one at any time of the day.
I like it, can arrive 15 min before my flight and make it every time.

I live in Mogadore, so like 5 min from Brimfield.

We’d fly in an out of there for the HOF game each year, and even that week — which has to be the busiest all year — seemed like the airport was closed.

it was growing like a wildfire then both Southwest and United pulled out of there and pretty much took 90% of their direct flights, it started slowing down. Then covid really slowed it.
My wife and a group of our friends are heading out to Vegas mid-October for a long weekend.
Was hoping flights would drop a little but they are still kind of high. It'll be interesting to see how they fluctuate over the next 3-4 weeks.
Best bar and restaurants around the Westin in Cincy? With the weather, preferably walkable.

Montgomery Inn maybe farther than you prefer to walk…probably a shade over a mile. Bars down near the stadium. There’s a club right across street that the MLB guys hit up when they are in town.

OTR is less than a mile up the road. Just walk up Vine St to The Eagle for dinner. We always go to The Lackman when we're killing time before dinner at The Eagle.
Do a google search of "otr bars" and find one you like. Tons of places to choose from.
The main takeaway from my post is that you should go to OTR. Do not stay downtown.
Also, our stupid streetcar is now free so you can always grab a ride on that which basically just loops between downtown and OTR.
Thanks!
