So we've decided on just going to Rome for our initial trip. Something like 5 days/4 nights. Found this place: https://www.plumguide.com/homes/rome/soft-pastelli

and thinking that's the way to go for that many days. Seems cheaper than renting two hotel rooms and everything is basically within walking distance (very short drive for rainy days). Added to the fact that there are museums, great eateries and historical landmarks such as the Vatican and Colosseum will keep us busy.

Flying all that way for only 4 nights in one city? I'd try to squeeze in something else if possible.

I'm planning to go to Colorado end of March, but there's been a major shakeup at my job which is fucking everything up. My parents are pulling a 30' trailer camper to Denver for the birth of my nephew. Now I may not be able to be there at the same time. I'm pissed.

My wife and I did Airbnb and it was a great location.  Go to Pizzeria Da Remo, you're welcome.

I'd do a day trip to Florence for sure. Train shouldn't take too long I don't think (1.5 hours?). Probably my favorite city I have been to.

I'm going to Vegas next month, Charleston in March, Florida in April and Philadelphia/NYC in August. We're going to watch a game in Philly and then one game each of the Indians v. Yankees and Mets.

I'm also trying to fit a 6 day cruise in during December.

I saw you post Charleston awhile ago, but since it's coming up, let me know if you need any recommendations on anything.

Just got back from Vegas.  I went with a cold.  I came back with laryngitis.

But I still managed to have a good time.  Went to a party where I threw an ax, pet a sloth, beat the hell out of a car with a sledgehammer, and had drinks with Tony Hsieh.  Ate dinner at Gordon Ramsey Steak.

Also saw Honey Badger at the airport on the way home.

Weird few days.

We're doing the 4n/5d just in Rome and we still won't get to see everything there that we'd like to. But it'll be enough to catch the flavor of it. We'll also be spending time in Sicily and then a few more days in the northern area. We don't have that part of the trip mapped out yet, still digging around.

Boo! The first time I went to Mexico I started out with just a runny nose - came home with the worst cold ever. Was ok though. I still had fun!

Oh, I did too.  It was a crazy trip, per usual.  I just came home sounding like Froggie from Little Rascals.

So I've never been to LA. I'm going to Anaheim for work early March. I can stretch it and stay the weekend. Where should I stay? All I want to do is be near the beach, go on a hike (of doable based on location), get legal pot, eat good food once or twice. Huntington? Venice? Santa Monica?

I won't have a car, flying in/out of LAX. Not having to worry about crazy traffic during my flight out would be ideal.

LA is very obnoxious, because it is so sprawling and you have to pretty much drive everywhere.  Wherever you pick, you're going to need to Uber most likely.

If you are in Anaheim, you are far, far away from the beach.

I just did this trip when I went out to the Rose Bowl. I stayed with my buddy who lives near "downtown" Anaheim.

For Anaheim, a Ducks game is actually pretty cool. There is a good place with some good places to eat called the Packing District. The bar atop is small, but good. Umani burger there is really good too.

The Uber trip from LAX to Anaheim will set you back $70-$100 bucks depending on traffic and will be ~45 mins to an hour at best. The 5 sucks ass. Huntington Beach is probably your closest beach, and that is around 30-45 mins, but from what I was told, it is an ok beach. If you are willing to travel, Manhattan Beach is the best one to check out. I went there on the Jan 2nd and it was pretty cool right before I headed to LAX to fly back.

Be prepared for traffic everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I live in the DC and still was surprised at the traffic, even on "side roads".

I’d rent a car. Will be cheaper than Ubering everywhere. And you’ll be in control of audio and everything...cause those drives aren’t short. Also, a trip to the beach is basically an entire day anymore. Depends on hotel location, but with traffic it’s an investment.

If I can work it out logistically, I'll be getting an Air BnB right on the beach. Venice to LAX seems rather short in terms of LA traffic fuckery.

If  I had the weekend I would head south to Del Mar and LaJolla.
