I think I just realized the 30+ year battle over immigration has become so politicized that we're guaranteed nothing will ever be done.  It's now a wedge issue, like abortion and guns.

Also, kudos to Rand Paul for planning to vote against Trump's "national emergency" and explaining why it was important to do so.  But really that vote should be 100-0.

This.  It's a shame the Republicans who cried about Obama doing the same thing (deservedly so) are now full of shit.

Anything where the sides are the rule of law against a specific interest should always be 100-0.

Banishment of Sportslady from the OC would likely garner that sort of vote...

I'm outraged that your wife let you get back on the internet. It was so peaceful on here without reading your white trash thoughts.

When you're upholding the constitution it should.  Maybe ask a civics/history teacher at your school if you can hop in for a few classes.

What about Justice Scalia's Senate confirmation?  Was it okay for that to be unanimous?  Because it was.

So because we didn't then, we shouldn't have to worry about it now either?

But they'll still CALL their side better, citing the prior bar.

To get to the point, re: MS13.

They're a gang that consists of a notable amount of illegals.

In the grand scheme of things, as far as crime in this country goes, they're a drop in the bucket.

Because they have a notable amount of illegals, though, said drop in the bucket gets magnified to "TOTAL CRISIS!!!!!!!!!!!!" by wall-loving Rs as part of their "appeal to fear!" card. To the degree that I usually have trouble reading stuff that gets posted about them overly seriously because it will get taken to the level that it reminds me of the old urban legend about how IN A TOWN NEAR YOU (maybe even your town!), there are initiate gang members driving around at dusk with no lights on, waiting for someone to flash their lights at them, so they can run them down and kill them to pass their initiation. Hell, wouldn't be surprised if someone, somewhere has tried to bring that one back to make their case.

Oh well in that case let them target and kill cops.  Heck yeah.

"But members of the Salvadoran police have been killed by the dozens in each of the past three years, most in attacks that investigators and experts blame on MS-13, an international street gang. At least nine officers were killed in the first month of this year."

…..and continuing to illegally infiltrate the US and target our officers.   But there is no reason for a wall; in fact open borders are what we need.

Always fun to see my points get proven!

So now people are up in arms because Will Smith is going to play the part of Venus/Serena Williams' dad. He's not dark enough. "Colorism matters".

Colorism matters..love will Smith but there are other black actors for this role

My question is, wouldn't a little bit of makeup (which actors wear anyway) satisfy you, if skin color is a priority? Wouldn't a great actor getting the part satisfy you?

I don't know, I probably won't even see the movie, so I'm asking others who are more into movies.

Wait a minute.....are you suggesting a black actor put on "blacker face"?!?

Might we actually see a case of outrage over "darkface" between those of varying shades of black men?

And Clarence Hill is right.  Colorism matters, and he's exhibiting colorism by insisting that a black man "isn't black enough" to play the role.

Which reminds me - wasn't there a bit of a kerfuffle recently over a movie that edited an actor to either be darker or lighter (forget which)?

Probably. I wouldn't be surprised.
