You must have never paid attention to ESPN.  Good move on your part.

Not really. I watch college football game day, a live cfb game and an occasional 30 for 30. In not interested in jock sniffers pontificating on societal topics.

So the Coronavirus is racist (just don't call it Chinese!)...Which is if not enough people die, at least we can re-frame Trump's slow response as not caring about minorities.

And rather than make another post, the usual right-wingers are now pushing that the quarantines were unnecessary and ineffective simply because the numbers are beating projections.

Anyone see the blue check media (NYT, MSNBC, CNN) try to say that Trump keeps pushing the malaria drug bc his family trust mutual fund owns like $1,000 worth of shares in a brand name one? Pretty spot on enemy of the people behavior. (They didn't do the actual math, normal people had to do the fact checking that they are full of shit)

And NBC keeps pushing the fake China propaganda numbers that they have no new cases.

The media has made a horribly stupid bet against hydroxychloroquine simply to oppose EVERYTHING Trump does, even if they have to lie/deceive to do it.  He way oversold it in typical Trump fashion, but the media claiming he's a snake oil salesman with political/financial motives is just more fake news.

It's pretty easy to see a positive impact when there might really be none.  But it seems like there are enough doctors reporting positive results that it's not just a few imaging potential, or just trying to make a name for themselves.

The media has basically given Trump a great defense against criticism of how he handled this.  And, again, that was unnecessary but now Trump will claim his travel bans and anti-malaria crusade saved lives while the media mocked him

No I didn't.  I don't watch CNN or MSNBC.  I look a the NYT, but didn't see this.  One of the news media's roles is to dig into stuff that politicians or other leaders insist is not problematic.  Sometimes we find out things that are really bad and need fixing as a result.  Sometimes stuff that is small gets overblown.  It's never perfect.  I doubt in this case Trump is pushing for a drug just because he wants money.  But if you are comfortable never challenging Trump on anything he says, well sorry for you.

LOL at you and others using the term "blue check" all the time now.

You can challenge Trump all you want. But when you investigate it and find out it's a nothing burger, don't go spread it around as if you think it is breaking news. If you don't see how investigating vs. spreading misinformation is different, I can't help you.

Also, no one watches the actual news, it's called Twitter.

Blue Check has been used for years?

It's become common with it's friend "snowflake" since 2016.

Not triggered.  Just found it funny.  Like the lady across the street who is has started adding "just sayin'" to the end of many of her sentences in recent months.

This really sums up how way too many people are acting about the whole thing, where the part about how we/the world is under siege from a new variant of the flu that is very contagious, effects different people in wildly different ways AND has no current vaccine or truly proven remedy winds up playing a distant second fiddle.

On one side, you have a president worried about his re-election chances and how CV's impact is tanking his economic growth, leading to his base (right-wing media, politicians, etc.) regularly acting like everything is totally overblown and things need to get back to normal SOON. Hell, with some of them being cynical enough about it to say that seniors should be willing to start the normalcy up at the risk of their health/lives because 'MURRICA!!!!!

On the other side, you have people whose only purpose is to GOTCHA Trump regardless of accuracy. For example, his earlier comments about how he wanted full churches on Easter was simply, if you actually read them, him giving an "it'd be great if this could happen" speech. But if you read the media reactions, you'd probably think he was saying, "Fuck health and your lives; pretend nothing is going on and go to church because I said so!".

And as a result, you have some people looking to snitch on anyone for leaving their houses and not adhering to social distancing protocols and you have some people acting like it's perfectly cool to have large gatherings like nothing is going on because all that stupidity bleeds down to the already-stupid population at large.

It's really great that no matter what the situation, there are lots and lots and lots of people more than willing to only filter it through their personal biases and not go any deeper than that.

Good post.

What's more is that we (myself included) tend to frame everything as a US issue.  In reality, this is a worldwide epidemic with most people on the planet not giving two shits about Trump, US liberals, US conservatives, Biden, or whatever.

Not sure what is worse, the journalist who feels the need to ask the pope about the environment or the Pope who should just stay in his lane.

Pelosi and Schumer are going to try again today to hurt small businesses by not increasing the PPP amount bc they want other funding (which should be saved for the next stimulus bill). For those unfamiliar, banks can barely keep up with demand of the PPP, and Wells Fargo closed their applications after a day bc of the governments rules on how much they can have. These are specifically for businesses with under 500 employees. It allows them to keep payroll for 2 months and is forgivable as long as they keep them employed through the date given (I Forget), it also allows to hire them back if they furloughed people. All l of this as jobless claims hit 17m in 3 weeks.

What I also find repulsive is this stupid "Squad" insisting/pushing for checks/financial aid for illegals. Fuck that. Seems like illegals get treated better than our homeless and veterans. Good old Botox Pelosi has one of the worst homeless situations in her area but it seems like her and her kind don't give a shit about that but boy will they stump for those illegals!

Just an example...oh, and she includes inmates. She's one of the "Squad" and that Ilhan Omar chick is pushing for this too...except she backpedaled and changed the NY Times title from "illegal immigrants" to "taxpaying citizens."

Interesting. She’s obviously very far left. Hopefully voted out soon.
