Healthy retreat, backfilling is always necessary.  You cannot come this far, this fast, without a correction.

As a result of savings from the tax changes, Pfizer made a $200 million contribution to the company’s charitable foundation in the fourth quarter, plans to pay $100 million in bonuses to employees and will make a $500 million contribution to its U.S. pension plan by the end of September.

The company said it plans to buy back $5 billion in shares this year and invest $5 billion in manufacturing and other capital projects in the U.S. over the next five years.

Didn’t watch, don’t think I ever would watch.

Twitter consensus seems to be Trump didn’t sound like a jackass, Dems seemed to be spiteful and didn’t clap for weird American things, and no one will remember any of it in a week.

Oh and Hillary did a Facebook dump of why she didn’t fire sexual abusers on her campaign.

I thought he did good.

It makes me understand more how he won.

Ha ha. I was just going to post that.

Wipe your mouth, dude.

People will be distracted with your words because of that.

Especially the corners.  Probably bad make up and the lighting.  Either way very distracting.

I didn't watch the SOTU yet (may watch it later this week), I did see Kennedy's rebuttal. Three things came to mind...

1. Stop drooling.

2. Was it fitting to have a car having to be fixed in the background of a democrat rebuttal?

3. The most hypcritical thing I have seen in awhile was a KENNEDY complain about CEO's making 100s of times more than their average workers. His net worth is estimated $30-50 million due to the Kennedy family trusts, and I bet his average staffer (political and around the house workers like maids, etc) make less than the average family salary, say around $50k/year. You know his maid isn't making 6 figures. You are worth at least $30 million, unless you are paying your lowest workers 6 figures per year you don't have the right to talk to CEOs about their "outrageous" salaries compared to their workers.

Yea, Kennedy also said "The system is rigged to benefit those at th every top", NEWS FLASH, you are the very top schmuck.  The biggest lie the dems have gotten the poor and disenfranchised to believe is that they are one of them.

trump getting a 75% approval rating across the board on the SOTU speech.

THe dems behavior last night was really bad.  I know that pubs did it to Obama but sitting on your hands when he mentioned the lowest minority unemployment rates ever or things that dems voted yes on just 2 years ago just shows that they care about nothing but staying in power.

Lots of shots of them on phones and evidence there were tweets sent during it.

Trump's speech was excellent; one of the best I have ever heard over the decades.  The personal moment when talking about the kid who escaped North Korea was incredibly moving; when the kid held up the crutches it was highly emotional.  I wish all Americans had as much appreciation for freedom and decent living standards.

So let's get back to work and this year fix illegal immigration and border security; begin some infrastructure (which will mostly be private $$$), and revisit obamaKare to repeal it once-and-for-all for the GREAT benefit of The People.

I HATE using people as props during speeches.  Obama took it to a new level, and of course the articulately-challenged Trump is going to abuse the same tactic.

I am not a big fan of it normally, but Trump was exceptional at weaving them in last night; best ever.

Yeah, I read the speech, saving myself about an hour.

It was fine. It did not contain any really new things, other than the GITMO stuff, which was not a suprise. The speech will fade into memory in a few days time as we approach the new budget deadline.

The immigration stuff was as expected, he spoke nicely, as expected, and the person story about North Korea was moving.

Few things.

1. The North Korean stuff is fine, but his policy as of right now is shit. The bloody nose approach is so short sighted. The proposed South Korean ambassador Victor Cha, who is great, is against it, and suddenly he was not nominated for the post anymore.

2. The infrastructure stuff is so up in the air that industry is waiting on direction. The $1.5 Trillion is a wish if there are no incentives to try and entice private investment. $200B is slated for federal money, but even that is unclear on how and where that money will go. The Highway Trust fund is still left untouched and broke, and the gas tax needs raised. But, hey, better than nothing, and I'll be interested to see all the details.

Trey Gowdy is leaving Congress.....

So he's likely replacing Sessions as AG, or headed to SCOTUS.

Kinda surprised by this, I like him a lot. Must be headed for something better
