If they were that sloppy faking this, then I'd guess the sex pics are going to be equally bad "deep fakes".
On the other hand, it's the sort of thing Bannon would do - get the media to jump on the "fake news" bandwagon, and then hit them with authentic originals.
But like I said, the origin story itself is very suspect. I can't imagine a wealthy person taking their laptop with sensitive personal info to some corner repair shop. And for water damage, if the data is important you don't take it to some rinky-dink operation.

Even if I don't agree with it as a consumer, a private business should be able to do what they want. The government getting involved or worse taking over will make it much worse.

Do they know it's fake? Have they blocked all other "fake" news that's out there? There is another Hunter Biden story out there now too. If they don't block it does it make it real? It sets a horrible precedent for them to take, because they can't possibly censor all possible fake articles, and it will undoubtedly lean to one side.
Where were they for the last 4 years of fake news about Russian collusion and whatever else? The Kavanaugh hearings? They also allow death threats and dictators on their platform. But this is where they decided to draw the line?
Twitter now just locked the official trump campaign account, for posting an ad of Biden clips saying he never spoke to his son about his business dealings.

Because they look for content that’s being shared heavily by bot accounts and also user reported actions and that’s what their committee reviews for accuracy. If you’ve ever reported a Facebook post you’ll notice it doesn’t go away right away, it takes a few days. That’s what’s happening. It’s being reviewed. Once the content is determined fake then Facebooks own bots scan for that content and block it.
So after a simple google search....

Do you have any reason to believe they’re not? I’ve personally seen my left friends share pictures and articles that i reported fake and ended up being blocked as well as the shit my cousins share that’s fake and i report and gets blocked. So I don’t have any reason to believe they aren’t. Do you?
For instance ... I’m not sure I’ve seen anything from the Courier that wasn’t either blantantly false or grossly exaggerated. And it’s all left propaganda. You’ll also have a hard time finding their stuff bc it’s gets blocked so often.

You didn't really directly answer my question, but I take that as a yes, you think the same set of rules are applied.
To answer your question yes, plenty of reasons if you haven't been living in a rock for the last 4 years. There are plenty of left leaning stories/tweets/posts etc that should be blocked by their set of standards (whether it's to prevent disinformation, violent rhetoric, etc), and they openly allow it to happen. This isn't even getting into these platforms unequally demonetizing certain pages or people depending on where they lean.
If they do actually apply the same set of rules, it's normally not as quickly and typically rare. I am not talking about the shit shared by your cousins or friends. I am talking about blue checkmark "journalists" with thousands or millions of followers perpetuating false shit that is left unchecked. 0 chance those were not reported either. Are you really using your own personal experience of reporting your friends and cousins to determine twitter and facebook apply the same set of rules to both sides? We don't even need to dig deep into it. If they were actively applying their same approach to the left, you would see many on the left decrying twitter and facebook. You simply never see it, and (spoiler), it's not because the left is more reasonable. I mainly use twitter now to read the news, but using your logic, Occupy Democrats would be blocked 24/7 for the shit they post. I would be shocked if they have ever been blocked.
Btw, I have to say, weird move reporting your friends and cousins. I legitimately didn't think normal adults do that shit.

For those who haven't watched the Joe Rogan/Tim Pool/Jack Dorsey video, I highly recommend watching or listening to it. It showcases how Twitter's policy is vastly one-sided, leans one way politically and while they admit to making mistakes, they're really not that interested in reform/change.
