Where are you guys going on vacation this year?

We always seem to go to a beach, but we're going to Gatlinburg this year to switch it up. Never been there. Looking forward to it.

Asheville (with a day in Lexington to start the trip) next month. I'll also be doing my annual Boundary Waters trip in August/September, not sure if it will be solo yet or not. Nothing else planned as of now, but I'm sure we'll do at least one other small trip somewhere within driving distance.

I just got back from an eight day trip yesterday. We cruised to Aruba, Curaçao and Grand Turk. I've now hit all three of the ABC Islands. Bonaire is my favorite, but all three are beautiful and I'd happily spend a week on each. Grand Turk has the most beautiful water I've ever seen, though. I'd love to visit for more than a day.

My husband and I hope to go to the Azores sometime this year. At this point it's just a matter of finding dates that work.

My galfriends and I are also planning a five day cruise for November or December. We have it narrowed down to two itineraries and should be booking soon.

I take long weekends off for Rock on the Range and the Indy 500 each year, and my husband and I take a baseball trip to a stadium we've never seen each year. We haven't decided on the next one yet.

Really want to take a vacation this year but not sure what to do with a 5ish month old. I really don't want to be "that guy" and fly somewhere with her, so it would probably need to be within driving distance. But then still, what the hell do you do with a 5 month old on vacation?

Wife and I plans are for a 4 /5 day short trip to DC  sometime in May.

Any suggestion where to stay would be nice.  We will be flying into DC .

We know Chicago and Hilton Heads so that taken care of...

We are in the midst of completing a major move to Chicago from NC, while also saving for kid #1 (going to start trying in June). So the yearly international vacation is out. We may head to Florida with some friends, and definitely hitting up my family cottage in N. Michigan now that we are drivable again.

If you're going to be there the week of Memorial Day, let me know. I'll be there (working) that week.

We'll be at the Gaylord National Resort in Maryland, which is a nice little area close to DC (I could see the Washinton Monument from my room last year).

My wife and I are heading to HHI for our 40th in April, and other than visiting Cbus twice a month visiting our grandkids, not a whole lot...but it's certainly enough for us ;)

Yes our plans are to May 23 to 27  My daughter friend who works in DC is hooking us up with tours, dinners and events. She suggest staying  in the area of Arlington Area  outside of DC  taking the train into DC and walk or uber where we want to go.

Miami late March. Possibly Florida (Orlando) again in June. Europe in August.

I'd like to fit in Colorado early summer, but not sure if I can get the days off.

Not sure what the price difference is between arlington and DC in terms of hotel, but if it isn't much or isn't a factor I highly advise against this.  Just enjoy DC and not deal with the metro bullshit.

We stayed in Rockville Md and used the metro. Once we figured out what we were doing the metro was very handy and no big deal. We definitely need to go back to DC in the near future.

good to know     Thank you     I will take that as a strong suggestion.. price is not a concern .. comfort,  safety and enjoyment   less bullshit the better.

We usually go somewhere Labor Day week, as my wife’s busy season at work is summer. That’s the first week of off season rates too usually which is nice.

The twins will just be a year old then, so we’re keeping it simple. I have grandparents that live 5 minutes from Topsail Island and grandpa isn’t in good enough health to travel to Ohio (back is fucked up beyond repair from driving dump trucks in a quarry), so they’ll get to meet their great grandkids. Then the other half of the week were just going to do Myrtle Beach, it’s like 2 1/2 hours away. Was able to get condos on VRBO for a half week at each place on the water for pretty cheap.

I found the metro very easy to deal with, hope the train goes all the way to Dulles next time we go

In that case getting a hotel or airbnb in DC is well worth the convenience.
